  1. I think the most interesting thing is that they discovered it basically by believing it into existence. They weren't able to see it, because its made almost completely of dark matter. The only indication of it existing was the 0.1% of stars at the center.

  2. This article is interesting about the Milky Way is interesting because it states the discovery of the milky way and the galaxy , also it talks about the Dragonfly being the dark twin of the milky way.

  3. a galaxy cloaked in darkness was discovered and even more dark matter.

  4. I think it is very interesting how the milky way galaxy has a "twin galaxy." Hopefully we can learn more about dark matter through this galaxy.

  5. It's interesting how the Milky way has a "Dark Twin." It was discovered that 1% was stars and the other 99% is dark matter. It's kinda weird that it was entirely unexpected and unseen because of how much darkness there is. Although it's weird if something is close enough to us we have a higher chance of detecting a dark matter signal.

  7. In a direct contrast with the beautifully bright Milky Way galaxy, a "dark twin" called Dragonfly 44 has been discovered 300 million light-years away in the Coma constellation, according to a new study. But by looking at it with some of the world's most powerful telescopes, including the Dragonfly telescope array designed and built by study authors Pieter van Dokkum and Roberto Abraham, researchers realized something else. "We knew as soon as we discovered the galaxy that it would be so tenuous if it was just made up of stars and no dark matter, that it would quickly disrupt and disappear," said van Dokkum, lead study author and Yale University astronomer. A huge amount of gravity was working to hold those stars in place, and once researchers used star velocity to measure how much mass the galaxy contained, they realized that the other 99.9% is dark matter.

Now, you can have a hundred times fewer stars in the galaxy with the same amount of dark matter as the Milky Way.

Currently, people are looking at tiny dwarf galaxies that circle the Milky Way to search for the dark matter particle with X-ray and gamma ray telescopes, but nothing has been found yet.

  9. he uses his photography skills to capture images of the underappreciated dragonfly. He calls it a "strange confluence of work and hobby," considering the name of the galaxy and telescope.

  10. A "dark twin" of the Milky Way galaxy has been found in the Coma constellation It could hold clues to solving the scientific puzzle of dark matter, a key ingredient of the universe

  17. I find everything about this interesting, anything space related is interesting to me. I read about Dragonfly 44 last year when it was first discovered. I saw a theory that it was made of dark matter, but I didn't look twice. Turns out it is dark matter, which makes the Milky Way's 'Dark Twin' even cooler. This is a step closer to learning about dark matter, their connection to galaxies and the universe, then learn about the universe itself. To put this in perspective, Dragonfly 44 is comparable in size to the Milky Way, which is 100,000 light-years wide. Mostly it is just unseen because it is cloaked in darkness.

  26. This is crazy. It is so interesting that there are billions of other galaxies in the world. There has to be life somewhere else. This is truly amazing.
