  1. On the day before Martin Luther King’s Birthday, African-American churchgoers gathered as they always do, to pray, give thanks and reflect on the state of race in America. But after a disheartening week and an even more disheartening year, black Americans interviewed on Sunday said they were struggling to comprehend what was happening in a country that so recently had an African-American president.

    The vaping industry was cautiously optimistic about the influence of the report. Gregory Conley, president of the American Vaping Association, a nonprofit that advocates for vapor products, said it was good news. He said the findings were consistent with those reached by the Royal College of Physicians and other institutions in Britain that have issued reports indicating e-cigarettes are less dangerous than traditional smoking and help with cessation.

  6. In recent news, spoilers are released about the hit tv show "This Is Us", about Jack's death. It's a sad story that fans are sobbing about. In other news, ex-team USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to 175 years in prison for sexually abusing over 150+ females. They all gave victim statements against Nassar.

A Michigan doctor came under scrutiny from immigration authorities because of child abuse allegations, which were among his 18 encounters with police, an official with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement told CNN. He also was charged with 20 other minor traffic offenses, such as speeding or failure to change the address on his license, from 1997 to 2016. ICE arrested him on January 16 over "administrative immigration violations," the agency said.

    Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor accused of sexual assault and molestation, was scolded on Thursday by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina over a letter he wrote before his four-day sentencing. Nassar wrote in the letter that he wasn't sure he could "mentally" handle four days of victim-impact statements during his sentencing. According to Mencarini around 125 women and girls are expected to make victim-impact statements during the sentencing, with the number growing each day.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley said Thursday he wants to release the transcript of the committee's closed-door interview with Donald Trump Jr., joining Democrats on the committee who have pressed to make it public.The White House released a statement about the Trump's meeting with Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

  16. Recently it has been reported that a store called Ulta has been known for reselling and packaging used makeup products and materials.

    Floyd Mayweather Sr. has recently been arrested for reportedly punching a woman. Sources say that he got into an altercation with a woman, who is currently unidentified, and dragged her out of her vehicle. Although this may sound a bit off you never know what certain people are capable of. It is one word against another due to the fact that they aren't any reported witnesses.

  24. Black Panther became the 10th highest grossing movie of all time this past weekend. After a very successful first weekend (and people going to watch the movie 2-3 times), the movie has earned an astounding $506.6 million dollars within its first 3 weeks of launch. It currently sits 9th on the all-time list.
    Also Kobe Bryant became the first basketball player in NBA history to win an Oscar with his short film "Dear Basketball"
