Write about two current events in the media. What happened and why are the events important? Minimum of 2 paragraphs.

  1. Kim Kardashian recently dyed her hair platinum blonde. Fans praise her choice to rid her hair of her dark color in favor for this edgy new hue. Her hair was revealed to have been dyed at Paris Fashion Week, when she surprised everyone at the Balmain show with her new color.
This current event is important because it depicts the exact opposite of what we should be paying attention to. Why do we care? We shouldn't. We know Kim Kardashian is a key player in the ploy to overthrow the government and this is a tactic used to distract us from the truth. WE KNOW YOUR SECRET KIM KARDASHIAN.

  2. Albert Manero and a team of engineering students at the university of central Florida designed a prototype for an electronic arm. six year old Alex Pring was the first patient. Instead of the students making money off of this idea, they put it on the internet for anyone to use. The UCF team, which operates a nonprofit called Limbitless Solutions, is special because it's the only group in the 3-D volunteer network making electronic arms. The students were blown away by what happened after that. The Today Show and other national news outlets featured stories about Alex and Manero, and then they got international attention. Families in more than 25 countries have asked the UCF students to help their children. In February, Microsoft highlighted the team in a social media campaign. The team has made electronic arms for five children and are working with three more kids. Alex traveled with his mom to UCF last week and practiced flexing his muscle to make the hand open and close.

  3. Boko Haram, the Nigeria-based Islamist terror group, has pledged allegiance to ISIS, according to an audio message purported to be from Boko Haram's leader, Abubakar Shekau.

In the audio, which was posted online Saturday, the speaker says Boko Haram is announcing its "allegiance to the Caliph of the Muslims, Ibrahim ibn Awad ibn Ibrahim al-Husseini al-Qurashi," which is another name for ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

here's a player on the loose in the NBA, and his name is Russell Westbrook. After four consecutive triple-doubles, Westbrook fell short Thursday night in a loss to Chicago but did manage to put up 43 points, making that three straight games with 40 points or more.

Westbrook's numbers over his past five games have put him in elite company; however, his stat sheet hasn't translated into many wins for the Thunder.

  4. On Saturday afternoon in Lexington, the Kentucky Wildcats completed a perfect regular season, defeating the Florida Gators 67-50 to move to 31-0 on the year. Since Indiana had a perfect season in 1975-76, Kentucky is only the sixth Division I school to head into postseason play undefeated, and the first school from a power conference to do so. That accomplishment already puts the Wildcats on a short list of the best college basketball teams in history.
After an NCAA investigation discovered multiple infractions, Syracuse head basketball coach Jim Boeheim will be suspended for nine conference games next season, and the program will lose 12 scholarships over the next four years. Boeheim's suspension will go into effect when the conference schedule begins next season.

  5. Student leaders at the University of California-Irvine vetoed a resolution on Saturday that would have banned hanging flags of any nation, including America's Stars and Stripes, in the lobby of student government offices, amid widespread criticism from students and alumni. The Legislative Council of the Associated Students of the University of California, Irvine's passed the resolution, "Flags and decoration adjustment for inclusivity," in a 6-4 vote Tuesday with the stated intention of creating a "more inclusive" environment. The resolution said "the American flag is commonly flown in government public service locations, military related entities, at homes, in foreign lands where the US government has a presence," and its "symbolism has negative and positive aspects that are interpreted differently by individuals."Current students also registered their dissatisfaction with the resolution, saying the resolution does not represent the student body as a whole.

  6. 1 event that recently happened and has caught my eye was the uprising of turkey in social media.social media is playing a key role in organizing protests and disseminating information on global events. Protesters had gathered in Istanbul over the weekend to rally against the development of a shopping center. Things turned violent when authorities were told to step in and remove the protesters. It is being reported that the Turkish government is putting pressure on mobile service providers and news outlets to help keep everything quiet – CNN Turkey wasn't covering the events, but CNN International was covering them. However, as many as 100,000 tweets an hour were being shared at points between Saturday and Monday, using protest-related hash tags. In other social media news,Taco Bell: Social Crisis in Full Swing. After a photo was posted of a employee licking a full stack of of hard taco shells this week. Taco Bell explained that the photo was for an “internal contest in which company and franchise employees could submit for approval photos of themselves enjoying their first bite of” a new product. However, Taco Bell has fired the 2 employees who were responsible for the pic, explaining the photo “violated the rules and spirit of the contest” and was rejected. An employee posted the photo on social media, a violation of Taco Bell’s franchisee’s policies. This is just another great example of understanding the ramifications of social activity. Every time you post a picture, think of it being viewed by the world and being seen with no context in mind!

  7. A South African teen kidnapped as a newborn and reunited with her parents. Zephany Nurse, who is now 17, was seized from a Cape Town Hospital in 1997. In a strange twist, she lived in the same city as her biological parents, who admit she's having a hard time adjusting to her new reality. "She's broken, and we'll fix it," said her father, Morne Nurse. The 50-year-old woman accused of kidnapping her was freed on bail Friday after the government agreed she's not a flight risk. The suspect is not allowed to contact potential witnesses, including the teen."We are concerned with the well-being of everyone involved, the young woman, her biological parents," he said, "but also can't forget about the father who believed she was his daughter." She released a statement, via the Centre for Child Law, which is representing her. "I want to say thank you to all the people who supported me through this, for continuously praying and never giving up on looking for me," she said. "Under the circumstances, I am doing fine."

  8. On Friday a woman and her baby crashed their car in a river in Utah. The car flipped upside down and unfortunately the mother died. However, the baby, only 18 months old, clung to life after hanging upside down in her car seat for 14 hours. An emergency team was able to rescue the baby on Saturday. Police say the baby girl is improving in health.
An investigation is currently going on about a puppy competitor. There is speculation that a 3-year old Irish settler was poisoned at right at competition. On his way home from competition he became very ill which isn't normal for him. Within a couple of hours the dog died due to trouble breathing. The owners were in shock and confusion and rushed him to the vet. The veterinarian found chunks of poisoned beef in the dogs stomach. Officials still haven't figured out who the culprit is.

  9. One major current event that recently happen the weekend was the 50th celebration of the march across the Edmund Petus Bridge. There were over thousands of people down in Selma, Alabama. I was able to experience this amazing event as a guest for Delta Air Lines. Personally from my experience i didn't expect to see as many people that i did. There were a lot of speakers at the event most of them were pastors or preachers. The event lasted all day long, but its a event that will be remembered for the longest time

3 men attempt to join ISIS. These men were apprehended before they could hijack a plane that was en route to turkey that they planned to take to he Islamic states. I find this article important because ISIS is a big deal and these men that got caught for trying to join them means that there could be more trying to join or that have already joined. they will become bigger and stronger, this worries me.

Another article is about a big tunnel under a stadium in Canada. No one knows how it got there or who did it, but there were electrical wires and lights going all along the walls, since it didn't have a name I called this one "mystery moles". The article above this one I called "ISIS wanna be"

MH370 report: Search delayed by chaos and confusion

MH370 report: Search. The initial hours after the disappearance of flight MH370 were characterized by confusion and chaos, as air traffic controllers struggled to comprehend the situation and radar operators failed to take notice, according to data contained in an interim report. The report -- released one year after the disappearance of the Boeing 777 and its 239 passengers and crew --- provides a detailed picture of delays and protocol violations before the launch of the search and rescue. An astonishing five hours and 13 minutes passed between the last communication from the flight crew and Kuala Lumpur's first distress signal concerning the missing plane. And it was another five hours before the first search flights took off to try to find it. Efforts within the search party were confusing during the present hours.

  12. Tim Tebow's desire to play in the NFL is still alive. he may be planning to compete in the veteran's scouting combine. The veteran scouting combine will be held March 22 in Phoenix. This is a new event to the NFL, this is an opportunity for veterans and other free agents to showcase their skills. This is a perfect opportunity for Tebow who has been regarded as too inaccurate to be a quarterback and would be better off as fullback to show off that he deserves to be in the league. He is one of the most famous figures, not just in football but in sports in general, and it will be good for the league.

Police kill an unarmed black man in Madison, Wisconsin, fatal shooting of 19-year-old Tony Robinson . Community members rally. Demonstrators plan to rally there at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Monday morning. another outbreak of killing a unarmed black could cause even more turn oil in the black populaces of america.

One current event is about a missing 8th grade boy and has been found on Sunday afternoon. He was found near his house under snow, dead. They say he was probably mad from an email he received from the school and on impulse went outside for a walk. The area was a dangerous and slippery.
A solar power plane took off from Abu Dhabi. It took about 12 hours for it to reach it's first stop. It s a very historic flight.

  14. A toddler was still strapped into her seat, where she may have been for 14 hours, if the wreck occurred, when police believe it did.The night before, a man living nearby heard a loud crash and stepped outside to check, but he saw nothing unusual, police said, and dismissed it.

That was at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Groesbeck's car had probably just struck a bridge embankment. The driver's side tire went up the cement barrier on the south end of the bridge, launching this woman and her baby into the freezing water.
The angler came along around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, 14 hours later.

  16. One major event that happened as of late was the 50th Anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" which is also referred to as the March in Selma, Alabama where African-Americans marched from Selma to the capital of Montgomery. Such figures as President Barack Obama and the people that are still living from this march appeared and displayed the significance that the march had on our nation.
Hundreds of troops from Chad and Niger launched a ground and aerial offensive against Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday, according to residents and military sources from Niger. The sweeping offensive is taking place along the Niger-Nigeria border, sources said, effectively opening a new front in the fight against the Islamist terror group. This comes a day after Boko Haram pledged allegiance to ISIS in an audio message purported to be from leader Abubakar Shekau.

  17. Ferguson Mayor James Knowles said the city "must do better" to address racism after a stunning Department of Justice report revealed a range of abuses committed against African American residents by the city's police force. One 14-year-old African-American boy said he was waiting for his friends at a house, unarmed, when police released a dog that bit his ankle, thigh and arm. The brutality in ferguson is unreal. Racial segregation kills me everytime I read it. I just wish everyone could get along.
West turned heads -- and not in a good way -- when he briefly went on stage after Beck won a Grammy for Album of the Year. In an interview after the show this month, West asked Beck "to respect artistry" and give the award to Beyonce. Kanye West is on an apology spree.

In a series of tweets, West reached out to singers Beck and Bruno Mars to express remorse over his well-documented disses. "I would like to publicly apologize to Beck. I'm sorry Beck," West tweeted Thursday night. Bruno Mars got more than an apology Thursday. "I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist," West tweeted. This article shows me that kanye isnt what everyone thinks he truly is. He actually has a heart and mans up to when he knows he's done something wrong and has to apologize for his actions.

  19. Commemorating the Selma March of 1965, March 7th, 2015, marked the 50th anniversary of the historical day known as Bloody Sunday. Massive crowds of all races, religions, and cultures marched along to reflect and remember the sacrifices of those from half a century ago. This event gathered many and held participants in singing hymns, watching parades, and listening to speeches including President Barack Obama's.
This event is important and historical as it is the progression from half a century of time. It provided the fuel to continue a fight that seems undying. As said by President Obama, "Our march is not yet finished. But we are getting closer." This moment is a moment of achievement, to realize how far we have come in racial equality and how far we still have yet to go.

In other news and neighbor in a apartment complex was hearing non stop crying from a baby. He didn't think much of it but later told a family member of the resident and they found the mother dead in the apartment of an overdose as well as her son. The baby had been crying for 3 days straight and they think the baby knew the mother had died. Had it not been for the baby crying they wouldn't know the mother had died and they baby would eventually die.

  22. Last weekend in Utah, an 18-month old was an unlikely survivor in a fatal car crash. Thanks to an apparently reliable car seat and trusty seat belts, the baby girl was saved after being trapped upside-down in a car that had been overturned in a frigid river for over fourteen hours. The driver, her mother, was found dead at the scene. The child, however has been doing better since being rescued. (CNN)

A chapter of Sigma Theta Epsilon at the University of Oklahoma has been shut down after a video of members chanting racist slurs surfaced on the internet. According the CNN, "The video shows a group of young white students chanting the n-word loudly and boisterously while riding on a bus." This has brought a lot of attention to the behaviors of college students and proves that, regardless of what some might want to believe, racism is not a dead issue. People like to label our generation as the generation that "doesn't see color," but this cannot be more untrue. There are still ignorant kids everywhere, and this is still a problem we have to fight.

A recent study showed that more than 50% of people between 12-35 years of age listen to music at too high of a level. Listening to music at those levels in headphones, loud bars, concerts and many other places can also contribute to permenent hearing loss/ damage. There are so many new ways to travel and I hope this can be perfected to benefit with gas and pollution.

There is a way for people to live longer and healthier. they say the key is to not stress and live a "pure" life. with a mainly plant based diet and a lot of exercise. these are things we basically know. keeping a healthy life in the things you do and the way you eat affects how long you will live. it also affects the way you feel and how much energy you have. thats why its important to dink and eat well.

  28. An eighth-grade student missing since Wednesday has been found dead, according to authorities in Pennsylvania. The body of Cayman Naib, 13, was found around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, William A. Moor III of the Newtown Township Police Department told CNN in an email.Mark G. Hopkins, chief of Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue, said the boy's body was found about 150 yards from his home in an area that was "slippery and very treacherous." Hopkins told CNN there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.A K-9 union located the body, which was under snow in a "sleeping position," Hopkins said.A search for the boy had drawn hundreds of volunteers on foot and online.Cayman's parents had been communicating through the same page earlier.

"We think that he got an email from school and was upset by it and left as an impulsive act," Farid Naib, Cayman's father, wrote Thursday on the group page. "We have spoken to his friends and they do not know where he is. Cayman does have his phone, we don't know if he has any cash, he does not have his wallet."

The parents said that his phone was out of power at the time.Cayman left within 30 minutes after he received an email from school regarding overdue homework (we do not blame the school) and most probably did not do any preplanning ... He is a good kid, and has no substance abuse or other issues, this is the first time he has ever done anything like this," his father and mother, Becky Naib, posted Friday.

You can hang from a tree, but he can never sign with me." This event shows that racism still exist in the world today. The Board members of the university said that the students have a problem with freedom of speech. They have violated the principles of the university. Adults and teenagers today have to stop with the racial issues, we stopped that a long time ago. So why bring it back? What is it going to benefit?

  35. in the news lately there has been a debate over a dress. A dress? Yes, a dress. Its a famous "test"that makes you look at a dress and determine if its white or gold or black and blue. Many arguments spread on social media because many people saw one color and not the other. It was rumored that if you dont see a certain color your eyes are messed up or you're color blind. 36. In Madison Wisconsin, an unarmed black male was killed. It started when the police got a call about a man yelling and jumping in front of cars. He was later identified as Tony Robinson. About four minutes later, they got a call that he was trying to strangle someone. Next, shots were fired, and the police ran in the apartment. Then, Tony Robinson assaulted an officer, Matt Kenny, who then shot him. This is important because this comes after the protest in Ferguson and New York, dealing with Michael Brown and Eric Garner. It shows that police brutality is still a very big issue in the United States, and it should be fixed.

  39. Whichever team gets Ndamukong Suh—and at this point, it looks like it will be the Miami Dolphins who snag him—will sign a wonderful talent. That organization will also be taking one of the biggest risks in the history of NFL free agency.

I came prepared to say signing a defensive tackle to a contract that will make him the highest-paid defensive player of all time—which is what will happen when Suh signs—would be asinine. Further, a team would be making a player who regularly delivers cheap shots and seems to enjoy kicking dudes in the groin perhaps its top free-agent signing in franchise history.Ndamukong Suh will sign with #Dolphins on Tuesday based off parameters around $114 million and $60 million guaranteed, per sources.

The 31-year-old actor chose not to speak about his personal life during the main interview for the daytime talk show, but asked Ellen DeGeneres to film a special sit-down chat with him backstage shortly afterwards. Smollett then spoke openly about his sexuality during the interview, saying, "It was really important to me to make sure that it got across that there is no closet." I think its important for people to know that it's okay to be themselves and they shouldn't hide their sexuality to please others. Also if they chose to keep their personal lives private that is completely okay and they should feel pressured to "come out".

The body of Cayman Naib, 13, was found around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, William A. Moor III of the Newtown Township Police Department told CNN in an email.

Mark G. Hopkins, chief of Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue, said the boy's body was found about 150 yards from his home in an area that was "slippery and very treacherous." Hopkins told CNN there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
We can't begin to tell you how this support and concern and prayers have buoyed the Naibs during this incredibly difficult time."We would ask at this point that the family be given the privacy and quiet that they need to grieve, heal, and to support their daughter," read a post on a Facebook page that was set up since the boy's disappearanceWe think that he got an email from school and was upset by it and left as an impulsive act," Farid Naib, Cayman's father, wrote Thursday on the group page. "We have spoken to his friends and they do not know where he is. Cayman does have his phone, we don't know if he has any cash, he does not have his wallet."

Cayman left within 30 minutes after he received an email from school regarding overdue homework (we do not blame the school) and most probably did not do any preplanning ... He is a good kid, and has no substance abuse or other issues, this is the first time he has ever done anything like this," his father and mother, Becky Naib, posted FridayCayman, if you read this please know that you are forgiven for everything, and I mean everything, you have the ultimate free pass. Just come home, we are so worried about you," the family posted Saturday.

A vigil was held for Cayman on Sunday night at his school, the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr. Susan Manix, director of communications at the private school, said officials were putting plans in place to "to support the Naib family, our students and faculty

Police kill an unarmed black man. Community members rally. They chant in unison and grief: "Black lives matter."

But the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Tony Robinson has its own unique set of circumstances.

The deadly confrontation has made Madison, Wisconsin, the latest epicenter of protests. Demonstrators plan to rally there at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Monday morning, and students say they will stage a walkout at the city's East High School after classes.

Rodner Figueroa made the comment Wednesday during the evening "El Gordo y La Flaca" program, as moderators discussed a make-up artist who had transformed himself into a variety of female celebrity figures, including Obama. This is important because it shows that people will say anything and doesn't care if it is on air or not. It also shows that actions are taken for people who are disrespectful on the media.
The Australian rapper Iggy Azalea postponed her whole North American tour. Azalea, who was due to open the tour of major US and Canadian arenas next month, will instead start the tour on September 18, her promoters said. The decision came nearly a month after Azalea announced that she was taking a break from social media after increasingly testy exchanges. This event is important because it shows that even celebrities get cyber bullied on the media and affects how they work.
All-in-all, people on the social media don't watch what they say and it can strongly affect a person's feelings and their work.

Brigance has been battling ALS – also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease – for eight years. A 2001 Super Bowl champion, Brigance is now confined to a wheelchair. He urged lawmakers to reject Maryland’s Death With Dignity Act, introduced by Sen. Ron Young and Del. Shane Pendergrass, both Democrats.

Critics testifying before the state’s lawmakers said a physician-assisted suicide bill would prey on those who are vulnerable or disabled.Brigance was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2007. 67. The NCAA tournament is finally here. The first round is sure to offer the thrills, sounds and excitement that come along with the most electrifying event in college sports, March Madness.
There's a pretty good chance that three of the four freshmen from Duke's incredible 2014 recruiting class will be jumping to the NBA this June. Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow seem like foregone conclusions, and it's tough to see what Tyus Jones has left to prove at the college level after putting forth such an incredible performance in the national championship game and being named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
But it's the one freshman who is going to stay that Duke haters (translation: 95 percent of the population) will wish they never had to see again. What Grayson Allen did in the title game against Wisconsin—scoring 16 points entirely at critical junctures—was just a glimpse into what he will be capable of doing as a regular in Duke's rotation next season.
