  2. Mike Wallace was one of producer Don Hewitt's first picks for his news magazine 60 Minutes. In 1968, 60 Minutes featured Wallace and Harry Reasoner as co-hosts. Wallace helped pioneer what is known as "ambush journalism." Wallace interviewed numerous world leaders.Wallace also talked with other newsmakers, and asked many questions. Wallace's success did not come without its share of challenges. He fought with his own network over a new story. One of his biggest interviews from this time was Dr. Jack Kevorkian who had just been released from prison. In January 2008, Wallace's final 60 Minutes interview aired.

  3. what made anderson cooper famous? Well "Cooper began his news career as a fact checker for Channel One, which produces news segments to be broadcast in schools around the country. Bored with his day-to-day job, he took a videocamera with him to Southeast Asia. His footage of strife in Myanmar and parts of Africa eventually landed him the job of chief international correspondent for Channel One."(bio.com) "Cooper's reports soon attracted enough attention that, in 1995, he was hired by ABC News as a correspondent and then a co-anchor of World News Now. Growing weary of the demanding schedule, he left in 2000 to host a new ABC reality show, The Mole. But after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Cooper was compelled to return to the news, and CNN took him aboard in January 2002 as a correspondent and substitute anchor."(bio.com) In 2003, CNN gave Cooper his own news show, Anderson Cooper 360, on which he examines in depth major stories of the day. The show was an instant success, and Cooper himself became a spotlight name, propelled by his coverage of such events as Hurricane Katrina, the death of Pope John Paul II and the revolution in Lebanon. Going after what he wanted made him successful, and never giving up.

  8. Quentin Tarantino is an American director, cinematographer, producer, writer, and actor. What has garnered his success is his style of film making which are characterized by "non-linear story lines, satirical subject matter, and the aestheticization of violence" which are also influenced by "neo-noir film and spaghetti Westerns". I chose Tim Burton. He is a well known filmmaker. He has over 30 films. It didn't take long for him to begin making big hit movies. He started making his own movies about a year after working at Disney with an animation degree.
I think he became successful because he creates a unique style of films. It's a combination of fantasy and horror. His illustrations are a different style from everyone else's and it's very unique.

  10. Gia Coppola, an upcoming filmmaker, is making a name for herself through artist indie movies. Her big film debut began with "Palo Alto." This movie was initially a novel written by James Franco, a famous actor. However, Coppola saw potential in the novel and rewrote it as a screenplay. From the mind of James Franco, to the film of Gia Coppola, an now finally on the big screen, "Palo Alto" has come a long way.
What makes Coppola successful is her unique eye for videography. Her film has a fresh and interesting look to it. She is like a cross between Wes Anderson , Sofia Coppola (her aunt), and Quetin Tarantino. the colors used in her film are very vibrant yet subtle. Her budget also sets her apart from other filmmakers because she created "Palo Alto" on a very low budget. Even with a small budget, a lack of an actor pool, and limited time, Gia Coppola still produced a wonderful film.

What makes Spike Lee successful as a filmmaker is his work ethic and his ability to create great films on low budgets.
Spike's feature film "She's Gotta Have It" had a budget of about $175,000. He only need two weeks to shoot the film. When the film reached the U.S.box office it grossed over $7,000,000. Lee's ability to make the best film possible out such low budgets is amazing. I see why he named his production company 40 Acres and a Mule.

  31. Filmmakers aren't given enough credit for creating the masterpieces we see in theaters and at our homes on a daily basis, in my opinion. We praise actors and actresses for their performance, but we ignore the credits at the end of the movies. We forget that the screenwriters, producers, and directors work for years to create seamless products that we enjoy, and I believe they should get more recognition than just once a year during award season.
One of the film directors that I believe deserves more recognition is Christopher Nolan. He is a British-American director, screenwriter, and producer. "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", "The Dark Knight Rises", the most recent "Interstellar", and my favorite "Inception" are just some of the movies he is credited with. He got his start in film at the age of seven and dedicated the rest of his life to perfect his craft.

  34. he company's first project was Lucas' full-length version of THX 1138 (1971). In 1971, Coppola went into production for The Godfather (1972), and Lucas formed his own company, Lucasfilm Ltd. In 1973, he wrote and directed the semiautobiographical American Graffiti (1973) which won the Golden Globe and garnered five Academy Award nominations. This gave him the clout he needed for his next daring venture. From 1973 to 1974, he began writing the screenplay for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). He was inspired to make this movie from Flash Gordon and the Planet of the Apes films. In 1975, he established I.L.M. (Industrial Light and Magic) to produce the visual effects needed for the movie. Another company called Sprocket Systems was established to edit and mix Star Wars and later becomes known as Skywalker Sound. His movie was turned down by several studios until 20th Century Fox gave him a chance. Lucas agreed to forego his directing salary in exchange for 40% of the film's box-office take and all merchandising rights. The movie went on to break all box office records and earned seven Academy Awards. It redefined the term "blockbuster". The rest is history. Lucas made the other Star Wars films and along with Steven Spielberg created the Indiana Jones series which made box office records of their own. From 1980 to 1985, Lucas was busy with the construction of Skywalker Ranch, built to accommodate the creative, technical, and administrative needs of Lucasfilm. Lucas also revolutionized movie theatres with the T.H.X. System which was created to maintain the highest quality standards in motion picture viewing. He went on to make several more movies that have introduced major innovations in film-making technology. He is chairman of the board of The George Lucas Educational Foundation. In 1992, George Lucas was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Award by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his life-time achievement.

Nobody makes films like David Lynch. He is our spooky tour guide through a world of dancing dwarves, femme fatales and little blue boxes that may (or may not) contain all the answers. 45. Alfred Hitchcock was a famous film maker that mastered the art of suspense. He pioneered many tricks within the suspense and physiological thriller genres in films. He was one of the first to use the camera shots to imitate a persons gaze, so you see what the character sees. He regularly framed his shots to maximize anxiety, fear, or suspense and used innovative editing methods.
One of his most famous movies was "Psycho." He used many new techniques that would later on be copied by other film makers later on. The surprising violence in a shower scene and innocents being murdered by a ill minded individual was new in the horror genre. Also, the death of the main heroine was something that was done before. Hitchcock changed the suspense and horror film genre.

He was born in Knoxville Tennessee on March 27 1963. He is the son of an actor and armature musician but was raised by his mother. He dropped out of school at 15 to attend acting school full time. He left after two years. He then landed a job which threatened to interfere with his long-term acting ambitions. As an employee of Video Archives, a now-defunct video rental store in Manhattan Beach, he and fellow movie enthusiasts discussed cinema and customer video recommendations at length. He paid close attention to the types of films people liked to rent and has cited that experience as inspiration for his directorial career.

Many people criticize his use of violence, blood and action as a "color" within cinema, and he has also been criticized for allegedly using human suffering as a punch-line. 72. february 16, 1884 – July 23, 1951) was an American filmmaker who directed and produced the first commercially successful feature length documentary film, Nanook of the North (1922). The film made his reputation and nothing in his later life fully equaled its success, although he continued the development of this new genre of docufiction, e.g. with Moana (1926), set in the South Seas, and Man of Aran (1934), filmed in Ireland's Aran Islands.n 1913, on his expedition to prospect the Belcher Islands, his boss, Sir William Mackenzie, suggested that he take a motion picture camera along. Flaherty brought with him a Bell and Howell hand cranked motion picture camera. He was particularly intrigued by the life of the Inuit people, and spent so much time filming them that he had begun to neglect his real work. When Flaherty returned to Toronto with 30,000 feet of film, the nitrate film stock was ignited in a fire started from his cigarette, in his editing room. His film was destroyed and he received burns on his hands. Although his editing print was saved and shown several times, Flaherty wasn't satisfied with the results.
Flaherty was determined to make a new film, one following a life of a typical Inuit and his family. In 1920, Flaherty secured funds from Revillon Frères, a French fur trade company to shoot what was to become Nanook of the North.[4] On 15 August 1920, Flaherty arrived in Port Harrison, Quebec to shoot his film. He brought with him two Akeley motion-picture cameras which the Inuit referred to as "the aggie".[5] Flaherty also brought full developing, printing, and projection equipment to show the Inuit his film, while he was still in the process of filming. Flaherty lived in an attached cabin to the Revillon Frères trading post.

Spielberg has countless big-grossing, critically acclaimed credits to his name, as producer, director and writer. He is a major deal, and he said he owes it all to his imagination because without it he couldn't have done it. He believes he will be continuing to be making films until the end comes. He is very inspirational and makes me want to become a director.
